To cap off a great spirit week at Saint Anthony’s High School, the Friars beat Saint Mary’s by a final score of 73-52 on Hawaiian Night.

The Friars were led by the powerhouse duo of Tyrone Lyons and Jon Harewood. Lyons finished with sixteen points and fourteen rebounds, collecting another double-double. Harewood had eighteen points, six rebounds and six assists, as well as hitting two three-pointers.

When asked about bouncing back after their tough loss to Holy Trinity, here’s what Head Coach Lagano had to say: “You find out your character when you lose a game. There was a great atmosphere tonight, a lot of fun, and I think it really got [the team] going.”

Saint Mary’s was led by Justin Brown who had twenty points and carried the team. “From a team standpoint we were able to bottle him up,” said Lagano. “We started to rotate guys on him. We did a really good job tonight.”

The playoffs begin soon in the CHSAA and Coach Lagano says the team “has to get better.”

“We’re in the same position as last year. People were sleeping on us a little bit. But you never know.” Lagano hopes the team keeps on rolling. “You want to play your best basketball at the end of February.” Great coaching, along with great talent, can take a team far into the postseason.
